The city of Leon, Mexico is located in the highlands north of Mexico City. Despite Mexico’s laws against child labor, many children are exploited at industrial factories in this area. The Good Shepherd site provides an opportunity for mothers to earn a fair wage so that their children can receive an education instead of working.
This group of women has developed their sewing skills in order to make schools uniforms and gym cloths for their local school. While they find this work rewarding, it alone does not provide enough income to support a family. By expanding this project with more uniform orders from the U.S., we are helping to make it sustainable.
